Community Shelters

Beam and Post Doorway Shelters

DSCN9936small.jpgThe Ryder Lake Community Centre had no shelter at their entrances. They asked me to build covers over both of their entrances. We worked together to create these custom entrance shelters for the front and side entrances. We decided upon a sturdy post and beam design that would provide for each main entrance provide safe dry space not only for those arriving but enough for a crowd to gather outside during an rental group’s special event in the event of rain.

We began by poring a re-enforced pad and then built the beam and post shelters, strengthening them with black metal joint plates that not only provide structure but a rustic industrial look.

Custom features include:

  • Sturdy post and beam design
  • concrete footings
  • New re-enforced concrete pad
  • Rustic black metal plate joints
